Meet Diane

My art practise is a varied one. I was a practising silversmith for some twenty years in Australia, England, Holland and Norway.

I majored in Printmaking during my tertiary studies and during a period of living in Thailand I took up the opportunity to weave. I enjoy combining and using these different mediums to further my practice. It creates opportunities to experiment which I relish.

I believe folktales handed down inter-generationally are an essential part of our identity - influencing who we are, the decisions we make and the directions we travel. I have researched my family tree extensively and choose to tell these stories visually.

My family was a diverse group of people who came to early colonial Australia. Amongst the journey men and women are convicts from England, a free- settler Irishman, a Chinese gentleman from Canton, a very young-orphaned girl from England and children born of convicts. This is a rich journey to explore.
